Spanish golf veteran Sergio Garcia (44) failed to qualify for the British Open Championship for the second consecutive

year.

Garcia finished in 6th place with a combined score of 141, 3 under par, in the first and second rounds of the Open

qualifying tournament held at the West Lancashire Golf Club (par 72) in Liverpool, England on the 3rd (Korean time),

failing to earn the right to participate, which is given to the top four players.

Garcia, who plays for LIV Golf, was unable to compete in the Open Championship, a major tournament, this year as well as

last year.

This year's Open will be held at Royal Troon in Scotland for four days starting July 18th local time.

Garcia complained to local reporters after the game, saying, "There were so many fans that the game was going too slow.

(When we were taking shots) people would pass in front of us and we had to stop the game."

Garcia, who competed with Tiger Woods (USA) for the top spot in his younger days, has never won the Open.

His best result was a second-place finish at the 2007 Open, where he lost to Padraig Harrington (Ireland) in overtime.

Garcia's only major win was the 2017 안전 Masters.

Justin Rose (England), the gold medalist in men's golf at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, earned his ticket to the Open

by tying for first place in the qualifying round held at Burnham & Borough Golf Club (par 71).

Rose, who also won the 2013 US Open, struggled this year, falling outside the top 50 in the world rankings.

This year's Open qualifiers were held in four locations, with 16 players securing tickets to the main tournament.

Accordingly, the number of players participating in the Open has been confirmed at 149, with 10 spots still remaining.

Two of these will go to the PGA Tour John Deere Classic, three to the Scottish Open and the fifth to the top-ranked player

in this week's DP World Tour Dubai Race Rankings.
